Recruiter for the upcoming 2018-2019 NBA season has confirmed that the recruiting window is set to open tomorrow, with the first few teams expected to announce their roster at 5:00pm AEDT (23:00 GMT) today.
Speaking to NRL.com this morning, recruiting manager Chris Bevan confirmed that, as per NRL policy, players on the NSW Rugby League team were not eligible to be considered for the recruitment process.
However, Bevan said there was a chance that some NSW players would be recruited to a junior club in NSW.
“We do expect a number of players to be available to go to junior clubs, and we have been in contact with some players in the NRL, so hopefully some of them will be available for us to consider as a junior player,” he said.
“There are some guys that have been on the NRL roster for a number in the past and we expect them to be in the mix for a couple of weeks.”
Bevan said the NSW side had not yet confirmed any signings, but confirmed the recruitment window would open at 5pm AEST on Saturday.
“I’m not sure what the numbers will be but we are hopeful there will be some NSW teams that are in the running,” he explained.
“Hopefully we can have some players from those teams in for some training and hopefully get some of our top players to train with them.”
It’s an exciting time for the game in NSW and we’re all looking forward to it.”NRL.com is live on Nine at 6.30pm AET, and will be back with all the latest recruiting news, as well as live results from the 2018 NRL Telstra Premiership.
