Florida State University announced Tuesday that the school will increase fees for students in the swimming and diving programs, but only for women.
The fee increase comes in response to a petition submitted by the school’s student body and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
The fee increase will go into effect Jan. 31.
The swim and diving fees have been set at $200 a month for women and $200 for men.
The increase in fees will apply to students who have completed at least two months of study at Florida State.
Women are charged $150 a month while men are charged a total of $250.
The increase will not affect any current undergraduate students who enroll on or after Jan. 1, 2020.
